Millwall are waiting to discover the full extent of the foot injury Shaun Williams suffered against Wigan.

Williams left The Den on crutches and wearing a protective boot following the Lions' crucial 2-0 victory against their Sky Bet Championship relegation rivals on Tuesday night.

The midfielder slid into an advertising board after losing his footing near the touchline and, despite attempting to play on, was substituted just before half-time.

Millwall will assess Williams' injury over the next 24 hours but the 28-year-old is already a major doubt for the trip to Cardiff at the weekend.

"Shaun walked into the dressing room on crutches, which was a precaution really," Millwall interim manager Neil Harris told local reporters after the Wigan match.

"But anybody who's on crutches after a Tuesday game is going to struggle to play on Saturday."
