Quintet likely to be involved in West Brom friendly
Crewe Alexandra boss Dario Gradi wants to take another look at several trialists as he steps up his search for a new left-back.
Danny Blanchett, Chris Stokes, Adam Dugdale, Lewis Short and Jimmy McCarthy all featured in the 8-1 friendly victory over Lancaster on Friday night.
But Gradi wants more time to assess whether or not the trialists who were in action on Friday, are worthy of a contract at Gresty Road.
He told
The Sentinel: "We'll have a look at them all again on Tuesday when I will make a decision with some of them.
"With West Brom sending a young team it will give us a chance to give all the boys another go. I might also be able to play some of them for a bit longer."
Gradi is keen to bring in a left-back after seeing Aaron Webster reject a move to Crewe in favour of signing a new deal at Burton Albion.
"The first I knew about it was when I heard he'd chosen to sign again there," added Gradi. "We move on and we'll have another look at it."
