Midfielder agrees contract after impressing on trial
Northampton Town have completed the signing of former Coventry City midfielder Kevin Thornton on a short-term contract.
The 23-year-old left the Sky Blues last summer by mutual consent and earlier this season re-signed with his former club Boyne Rovers FC in Ireland.
In December he joined Nuneaton Town on a non-contract deal and the non-league club confirmed earlier in the week that Thornton had been offered terms by Northampton.
Cobblers manager Ian Sampson said: "Kevin has been on trial with us and I have been impressed with him.
"He is a ball-playing midfield player who can create things. We are willing to give him a chance and an opportunity and I think he is eager to take that chance.
"We are always looking for players we feel will improve the squad and I feel Kevin will do that. He is a good footballer and I am sure he will fit in well."
