Adebayo Akinfenwa remains uncertain about whether he will sign a contract to stay at Northampton Town.

Striker yet to make a decision on signing new contract

Adebayo Akinfenwa remains uncertain about whether he will sign a contract to stay at Northampton Town next season. The striker is a huge crowd favourite and signed off with a last-minute goal against Bury on Saturday to take his tally to 37 goals in 78 league starts for the Cobblers. But the burly forward is now out of contract and is unsure whether he will sign the new two-year deal offered to him by manager Ian Sampson. He said: "Every player will tell you they want to play as high as possible. That has to be in my thoughts for next season. "But I enjoy it here, I've got love for Northampton and it's the longest I've ever been at one club, so we'll see. "The Cobblers have helped me get back to what I was before breaking my leg. But I've finished as the top goalscorer for the last two seasons, so I like to think it's an even partnership, and that I've given something back."
