Midfielder moves to Sixfields from Stockport County
Northampton Town have signed Stockport midfielder Paul Turnbull for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old was captain of County but has now left following their relegation from the Football League last season.
He made his debut for the Hatters at 16 but will now move to the Cobblers on a deal that will be completed on 1st July.
Northampton manager Gary Johnson told the club's
official website: "I think Paul is another very good signing for this football club, both now and for the future.
"There aren't many 22-year-old central midfield players who have captained their club and made more than 100 appearances in senior football.
Leader
"He is a leader, a player who controls things from central midfield, and someone who I, and many others, feel he has great potential. I think he is now ready to kick on and this move will hopefully bring the best out of him.
"When I was in charge at Peterborough, we played Stockport County in the FA Cup and he impressed me in both the original tie and the replay, and I have kept an eye on him since.
"He can be a defensive midfielder and can also be an attacking midfielder, he has both types of game in his locker and that is important.
"There was a fair bit of interest in him this summer, including from clubs in higher divisions, so we have done well to bring him to Sixfields."
Meanwhile, full-back Nana has put pen to paper at Sixfields on the two-year contract he agreed earlier in the summer.
