Huddersfield goalkeeper Joe Murphy has signed a contract extension to keep him at the club until the summer of 2017.

Town have the option of another season on Murphy, 34, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of this season.

"The goalkeeping situation at the club is perfect, as we have two very good players," head coach David Wagner told the club's official website.

"Joe is not only an excellent, experienced goalkeeper, but he is a great character as well.

"Before we extended his contract we spoke about my expectation for his important role on the pitch and in the dressing room.

"I'm very happy that he will stay for next season."

Murphy, whose previous clubs include Tranmere, West Brom, Walsall, Sunderland and Scunthorpe, signed a two-year deal when he joined Huddersfield from Coventry in June 2014.
