Former Whites and Blades boss seeking return to the dugout

Former Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell is looking to get back into management as soon as possible after spending the past year away from the dugout. The 53-year-old has been out of the game since leaving Sheffield United by mutual consent in August 2010. He took the opportunity to have a break from football after parting company with the Blades, but feels the time is right to return to coaching. "I have been out of the game now for just over a year, I had to take some time out for family reasons, and it's time to get back," Blackwell, who has applied for the vacant post at League One outfit Huddersfield, told Sky Sports News HD. Blackwell spent two years with Leeds between 2004 and 2006 and took the club to the brink of a return to the Premier League, only to come up short in the play-off final. He spent 10 months with Luton after leaving Elland Road, before going on to take the reins at Sheffield United in February 2008. He was able to establish the Blades as a top-half side in the Championship during his time at Bramall Lane and hopes such successes will work in his favour as he attempts to find a new position.

Strong

"As a professional you want to have a strong CV when you go for jobs and, yes, I have got a strong CV and I want to make sure it stays that way," said Blackwell. "That's why I haven't applied for certain jobs, because I don't think they would suit where I want to go. "I want to make sure that my CV remains strong and hopefully that's attractive to clubs, that they now know that I am back on the scene and looking for work." Blackwell admits he has been bitten by the managerial bug again, with his time spent away from the touchline making him all the more determined to succeed upon his return. "I am lucky to have been invited all around the world and I've been coaching all around the world, I have just come back from South Africa last week, but it's nothing like having your own team," he said. "I have had a situation to deal with but now that has cleared itself up, I can look forward to getting back in the tracksuit and hopefully reinforce that CV even further."
