Sky Bet: Steven Pressley backed in to odds-on to be the next Huddersfield manager

Coventry manager Steven Pressley has emerged as the clear favourite to be the next Huddersfield boss with Sky Bet slashing his odds from 4/1 to 1/2.

Pressley’s odds have been cut following sustained backing amid reports that the Sky Bet Championship outfit are poised to make an approach.

Mark Robins parted company with the Terriers after just their first game of the season, a 4-0 home defeat to Bournemouth, with Mark Lillis taking over on a caretaker basis, overseeing a dramatic 5-3 victory over Chesterfield in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.

Lillis is also expected to take charge of Saturday’s trip to Cardiff but is a 16/1 outsider to take on a permanent basis, with Pressley, Neil Lennon (7/1) and Billy Davies (14/1) ahead in the betting.

Pressley also replaced Robins after he left Coventry for the John Smith's Stadium, steering them clear of relegation in Sky Bet League 1 last season despite a 10-point deduction.

Sky Bet’s Chris Spicer said: “Pressley has attracted nearly double amount of stakes than any other manager on our list of potential replacements for Robins, prompting us to slash his odds significantly since opening the market.

“However, we’ve seen relatively modest money since he was cut in to odds-on, suggesting it’s far from a foregone conclusion, especially given Coventry are likely to be reluctant to let Pressley go at such an inconvenient time.”
