Colombian winger Jose Izquierdo joins Brighton for a fee believed to be worth £13.5m from Club Brugge.

The Premier League newcomers confirmed the deal for the 25-year-old after he was granted a work permit by the Football Association.

The signing of Izquierdo marks the second time the Seagulls have broken their transfer record in a week, following the arrival of midfielder Davy Propper from PSV Eindhoven.

Speaking after the player agreed terms last week, manager Chris Hughton said: "Jose is someone we have been aware of for sometime and has been one of the stand out players in the Belgian league over the past three years.

"He's been an exciting player for Club Brugge and in the season he helped the club win the title in 2015-16 he was also Belgium's Player of the Year."

The left sided player moved to Club Brugge from Colombian side Once Caldas in 2014 and Hughton believes he is already capable of stepping up to the Premier League.

"Jose has good experience with almost 250 senior games in both Colombia and Belgium, and has played in the Europa League, Champions League and international football, having made his debut for his national team this summer."

Provided Izquierdo obtains international clearance, he should be in line to make his debut in Saturday's game at Leicester City, a side who he scored against in the group stage of the Champions League last November.
