Robins, Rovers and Walsall claim wins; Terriers held at Brighton

Swindon maintained their promotion charge with a comprehensive 4-2 victory over lowly Oldham on Tuesday night. The Robins are now above Millwall in fifth place and unbeaten in nine league games while Oldham have slipped into the relegation zone on goal difference. Play-off chasing Huddersfield missed the opportunity to move into the top six after they were held to a goalless draw at Brighton. Tranmere Rovers gave their survival hopes a massive boost by recording a precious 1-0 away win at Gillingham, while the remaining League One clash at the Memorial Stadium saw Bristol Rovers slip to a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Walsall. In-form frontman Billy Paynter was once again the Swindon hero as he grabbed a brace to inspire Danny Wilson's men to their ninth home victory of the season. The former Hull City hitman grabbed both goals on the stroke of half-time before strike partner Charlie Austin and midfielder Danny Ward put the result beyond doubt. Ian Thomas-Moore snatched the spoils for Tranmere at the Priestfield Stadium, his 68th minute strike enough to see off the plummeting Gills. One goal was also all that was required for Walsall to overcome play-off chasing Bristol Rovers - midfielder Richard Taundry sealing a fifth away win of the season for Chris Hutchins' men. And Lee Clark's Huddersfield are now two points off the play-off places after neither they nor Brighton managed to trouble the scorers on the south coast.
