Craig Morgan and Ben Pringle have rejected new contracts at Rotherham and will leave the club on free transfers.
Both men were offered fresh terms by the Millers earlier this month after helping them to Championship safety, but they have rejected the deals and will move on.
Morgan and Pringle played an integral part in three years of unprecedented success for the Millers, helping them to successive promotions from League Two before their escapades in the second tier this season.
Skipper Morgan, who intimated he was keen to sign a new deal if it was in keeping with other top earners at the club, made 105 appearances in a red and white shirt and looks set to join Championship rivals Bolton.
Pringle, who joined the club in 2011, was brought to life by boss Steve Evans after a difficult first season and went on to play for the Millers 167 times, with his form during the 2013/14 promotion-winning campaign earning him a place in the PFA League One Team of the Year.
Boss Steve Evans said: "I was informed by (chief operating officer) Paul Douglas late on Wednesday evening that at this stage we have been unable to agree terms with either of the lads or their representatives.
"I am obviously disappointed that both have decided to move on from what has been a simply stunning three-year period for both players. I am not privy to the actual detail, as those negotiations are conducted by our chief operating officer.
"On behalf of everyone at Rotherham United we would like to thank both for their service and we wish them well for the future."
Evans has confirmed he has meetings arranged with potential new signings over the next few days.
He added: "I can confirm that the targets that I have identified to the chairman have been sanctioned, and a number of meetings have now been set up with those targeted players and their representatives."
