Paul Peschisolido doubts Burton can afford a permanent deal for Brentford striker Steve Kabba.
Permanent deal for Brentford striker likely to be too costly
Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido doubts the club would be able to afford a permanent deal for Brentford striker Steve Kabba.
Former Sheffield United striker Kabba impressed during a loan spell at the Pirelli Stadium last season, scoring six goals in 18 league starts.
However, Peschisolido admits that the pacey, experienced forward would need to take a pay cut for Burton to be able to bring Kabba back to the club.
"Steve Kabba was another one that did a great job for us last season, but I don't think we will be able to afford someone of his quality on a permanent basis," Peschisolido told
skysports.com.
"Brentford were great in paying a certain percentage of his wages, but that always meant signing him on a permanent deal would be difficult for us.
"The actual wage he was on at Brentford was a figure we simply couldn't afford. So, I'd like to bring a new striker in if we can't do something with Steve."
Patient
So far, the Brewers have managed to add just one fresh face to the squad which held their own in League Two last season and Peschisolido insists he is willing to be patient in his quest for new recruits.
He added: "There are going to be a hell of a lot of players out of contract this summer, so we need to be patient and wait for the right players to come along for us.
"Gone are the days that lower league players can ask for what they want and the power has switched to the clubs more due to the threat of unemployment.
"Clubs can now wait until the last minute to swoop on those still without a new club and we will hopefully be one of those."
