Plymouth, Blackpool and Accrington have all received double nominations in the Manager and Player of the Month awards for March in Sky Bet League Two.

Pilgrims boss Derek Adams guided his side through a difficult-looking fixture list in which they faced five fellow promotion contenders.

The highlight was a 1-0 win at leaders Doncaster and in total Plymouth picked up 13 points and four clean sheets from six games.

Plymouth midfielder Graham Carey's efforts during the month have also been recognised, as he set up two goals and scored three himself to leave him in double figures for goals and assists for the season.

Blackpool were also an improving force in the division during March, with Gary Bowyer ignoring the club's off-field problems to lead them to 16 points from six matches, including a 3-0 win at promotion hopefuls Plymouth.

Seasiders' winger Brad Potts scored two goals and contributed two assists in five games as he switched seamlessly between the wing and a role behind the strikers.

Having begun March in 21st place, six points above the relegation zone, manager John Coleman helped them climb to 13th place, seven points off the play-offs.

The impressive form of Shay McCartan was instrumental to Accrington's advance up the table, as the striker scored six goals in seven matches in March, including stunning free-kicks against Barnet, Exeter, Morecambe and Grimsby.

Rounding off the Manager of the Month nominations is Crewe's David Artell.

Having arrived in the new year with the Railwaymen in crisis, Artell needed time to impress his methods on his team but four wins from five games, all without conceding a goal and including victories at Portsmouth and Carlisle, are evidence of the influence he has had.

The final player nominated for the March award is Stevenage midfielder Charlie Lee.

Dominant in the air and deployed either to protect the back four or to man-mark, Lee was integral to his team conceding just one goal in five March games.

The winners of both awards will be announced on Friday April 7 on Sky Sports News HQ.
