Stanley reject two separate offers for striker
Accrington Stanley have rejected a six-figure bid from League Two rivals Grimsby Town for Michael Symes.
The striker is out of contract at Accrington at the end of the season and has been offered a deal to stay with John Coleman's side.
He has been linked with Championship outfit Derby County and has also attracted interest from Grimsby, who have made two bids for the 26-year-old.
The first offer involved a player before Mariners chairman John Fenty returned with a bid in excess of £100,000, which was also turned down by Accrington.
"We've had two bids turned down for Michael Symes," Fenty told the
Grimsby Evening Telegraph.
"The first involved a player and the second was a six-figure bid without a player.
"Those have both been refused, but we'll keep working on things.
"We are doing our best to back the manager and bolster the squad."
