Shrimps boss keeping tabs on Connerton
Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy expects competition for Jordan Connerton after admitting an interest in the Lancaster City striker.
Connerton's exploits for Lancaster this season have seen several Football League clubs linked with a bid for the 20-year-old.
The Shrimps' League Two rivals Bury and Crewe are mooted as admirers of Connerton and McIlroy confirmed he is keeping tabs on the youngster after speaking to Lancaster boss Tony Hesketh.
McIlroy told
The Visitor: "I have had a chat with Tony and spoken about Jordan, but a lot of clubs are interested in him and we will just have to see what happens in the future."
The Morecambe chief has been looking to add to his squad with a loan player, but conceded the recent cold snap has affected his plans.
He added: "The bad weather seems to have put a lot of things on hold at the moment on and off the field and our hopes of bringing in a loan player are a bit up in the air.
"We are still keen to bring the player in, but again we will just have to see what happens in the next week or so."
