Swede to remain involved at Meadow Lane as joint-life president
Sven-Goran Eriksson has stepped down as Notts County's director of football, but will stay on as life president.
The League Two outfit were the subject of a takeover by former Lincoln chairman Ray Trew on Thursday.
The ex-Imps supremo acquired the financially-crippled club from Peter Trembling for £1.
The Magpies are said to have debts totalling over £1.5million and have now changed hands on three occasions this season.
Eriksson, who joined the club in a shock move last summer, has now decided he will be vacating his hands-on role at Meadow Lane, allowing him to explore other options.
Honourable
The experienced Swede will, however, remain part of the behind the scenes set-up at County after accepting the offer of a joint-life president post.
New chief executive Jim Rodwell said: "He (Eriksson) has agreed to stay on as joint-life president which is a less hands-on role but it gives people an idea of how honourable Sven has been to deal with."
Midfielder Matt Hamshaw also praised the former England boss, saying: "He never missed a day's training even in the snow and rain.
"He has stuck through it all. He was a real gentleman and was always there to help players out."
