Macclesfield caretaker admits talks are ongoing about job
Macclesfield caretaker manager Gary Simpson has revealed he is hoping to land the job on a permanent basis.
The 48-year-old was placed in charge of the club following the death of Keith Alexander.
Town have managed three wins and a draw in their last four games and have moved up to 20th in the League Two table - 11 points above the drop zone.
"We are 11 points clear and we are talking about the job," said Simpson.
"Obviously I played a large part in bringing these players to Macclesfield - and they trust me."
Macclesfield's next game is a home tie against Aldershot on Saturday before a trip to Bradford two days later.
Simpson, a former midfielder, was the assistant to the late Alexander at Ilkeston Town, Northwich Victoria, Lincoln City, Peterborough United and Macclesfield.
