Ruster leaves Robins

Swindon Town have parted company with French winger Sebastien Ruster following a contractual dispute with the player's former club Cannes.

Ruster, who signed for The Robins in October after a trial with Premiership crisis club Leeds United, joined the Second Division outfit as a free agent.

His contract at Cannes was terminated after the club lost their professional status in French football.

Despite signing a deal at The County Ground, Swindon were notified that Cannes would submit a claim under Fifa regulations to receive compensation for the young wide man, who is under 24 years of age.

However, with Ruster seeing little opportunity of regular first-team football and with the player failing to settle in to life in England, the club have granted his wish to release him from his Swindon contract and allow him to return to France and sort out his situation at Cannes.

Should he resolve his dispute, Robins boss Andy King will consider taking a fresh look at Ruster in the summer.

Meanwhile, King has also decided not to pursue a deal for Finnish trialist Mathias Lindstrom after running the rule over the Finland Under-21 international defender in the last week.

In other news, fellow defender Ben Martin has joined Conference club Farnborough Town on a month's loan.
