Goals from David Nugent and James Pearson ensured that Leicester City maintained their unbeaten pre-season with a 2-0 friendly win away to MK Dons.

The Foxes threatened in the early stages through Jeffrey Schlupp and Riyad Mahrez, while Danny Green fired a long-range effort wide for the hosts.

Both sides fought to stamp their mark on the tie, but it was Leicester who found themselves ahead after 24 minutes thanks to a huge slice of luck.

Leicester made it four wins out of five in pre-season as they won 2-0 at MK Dons.

Nugent drove forward before letting fly from outside the box and his strike clipped the heels of defender Kyle McFadzean to wrong-foot David Martin in the Dons net.

Nigel Pearson’s men continued to threaten with Mahrez and Chris Wood trying their luck from distance, before MK Dons came close as highly-rated youngster Dele Alli clipped the woodwork.

Leicester, who open their Premier League campaign away to Everton in just under two weeks’ time, were unchanged at the break and started the second half brightly with Nugent heading a Mahrez corner over.

The Foxes were briefly subjected to a spell of pressure from the League One side, but 21-year-old full-back Pearson was able to seal the win with a stunning strike that sailed into the top corner.

Youngster Jack Barmby, who joined from Manchester United this summer, was introduced towards the closing stages and he almost added a third as Leicester proved to be too strong at Stadium MK.
