Keeper keen to land permanent contract
Matt Glennon is hoping that an impressive debut for Stockport will help him to land a permanent contract.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper agreed a pay-as-you-play deal with the Hatters in time to make his bow in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Macclesfield.
He saved an Emile Sinclair penalty in that contest, helping Stockport to their first win of the new season.
As a local lad he is determined to help the club back to their feet, with the Edgeley Park outfit still coming to terms with the fall-out of administration.
Glennon, who spent much of the summer training with Premier League side Bolton, accepts that funds are tight at Stockport, but hopes an agreement can be put in place that will tie him to the club on a full-time basis.
Help
"I've just had the worst 12 months of my career," said Glennon, who has been released by Huddersfield and Bradford since the turn of the year.
"I didn't play many games and was injured. But some good people have helped me.
"I trained with Bolton and then Paul Simpson got in touch to ask me to join Stockport. It's just a game-by-game basis at the moment.
"I know contracts are hard to find these days but that's the aim. I'd like a permanent deal if the club can afford one.
"It's been terrible what has happened to the club. It's upsetting, because I was born in Stockport, supported them growing up and was a ball boy."
