Winger hoping to pick up positive result away to Port Vale

Stockport County winger David Poole insists that no one is giving up on avoiding relegation this season. The Hatters have struggled all season and are currently bottom of the League Two table, eight points adrift of safety with just four games left. However, former Manchester United youngster Poole insists the players will keep fighting to beat the drop as long as it is mathematically possible. "In and around the club we are staying positive, which is a must because once you let your heads go down there is no way back," Poole told skysports.com. "Hopefully we can put a little run together in the last three or four games and salvage something out of the season."

Positives

The Hatters travel to Port Vale on Saturday knowing that defeat could confirm their fate, depending on other results, but recent performances have given Poole extra belief that they can claw their way out of trouble. He added: "The two goals we conceded, at Shrewsbury on Saturday, were poor ones from our point of view, but we created a lot of chances as well. "So, positives can be taken from the defeat, but we really need to be winning games in our position. "That was a chance to claw the gap back a little bit, but if we can create as many chances as we did against a very good Shrewsbury team in other games then we will hopefully start taking a few of them. "We've played very well against local sides this season, beating Bury both home and away, plus Macclesfield and drawing with Crewe, so we've picked up some good results. "We are going into Saturday with a lot of confidence after a decent performance at Shrewsbury and hopefully we can go there and get something from the game."
