Bristol Rovers have signed defender Ryan Sweeney on loan from Premier League side Stoke until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old began his career at AFC Wimbledon and made his debut for the Dons in April 2015.

The Republic of Ireland Under-18 international went on to sign for Stoke last August and Rovers manager Darrell Clarke is delighted to tie up the teenager for the rest of the campaign.

"I am delighted to welcome Ryan to The Memorial Stadium and I am sure that between now and the end of the season he will be a valuable addition to our squad," Clarke told the club's official website.
