Bristol Rovers v Wigan preview
Monday 23 April 2018 16:47, UK
Bristol Rovers could be without midfielder Liam Sercombe again at home to Wigan.
Sercombe has missed the last two games through injury since being forced off against Charlton on April 7. Tom Broadbent and Lee Brown could both return if Pirates boss Darrell Clarke chooses to change his defensive formation.
Long-term injuries to Stuart Sinclair, Joe Partington and Dan Leadbitter continue to restrict Clarke's options.
Given their superior goal difference, Wigan would be virtually guaranteed the Sky Bet League One title should they beat Rovers and Blackburn lose at Doncaster. Despite clinching promotion with a 4-0 win at Fleetwood on Saturday, Latics boss Paul Cook will probably make a couple of changes.
Michael Jacobs is set to return to the starting line-up after being rested at Fleetwood. Nick Powell could also be involved after missing the last two games with a thigh problem.
Opta stats
Bristol Rovers have failed to score in each of their last three league games against Wigan, although two of those games ended goalless.
Wigan will be visiting Bristol Rovers in the Football League for the first time since September 2000, with the Latics only ever winning once in 12 visits (D3 L8).
Rovers have lost just one of their last nine home league games (W4 D4), remaining unbeaten in their last six (W2 D4).
Victory for Wigan will see them set a new club record of away wins in a single Football League campaign (currently 15 in 2002-03 and this season).
