Nigerian youngster set to be given another chance to impress

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson is set to give another chance to striker Danny Uchechi after being impressed by his initial trial. Uchechi, who is a Nigeria Under-20 international, played 45 minutes of Posh's 3-2 victory over Notts County in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday. The former West Ham youngster is now likely to be given another chance to show his skills in another friendly on Saturday at non-league outfit St Neots. "Danny was recommended to us and is someone that Mark Robson knows quite well," Ferguson told the club's official website.

Lively

"He is enthusiastic, he has been lively in training and we will continue to take a look at him this week. "He is a Nigerian Under-20 striker, he has been on-loan at a couple of clubs including Leicester City and you could see that he has something about him. "It is sometimes hard when you have only trained a couple of times to come in and play a game, but he did well." Reflecting on the win at Meadow Lane, Ferguson felt preparations were going well ahead of their return to the Championship under his guidance.
Competitive
"It was a game that we needed, a very competitive one and the lads will have gained a lot from it. I thought we played some very good football in the first half," he added. "Ryan Bennett and Scott Wootton got 90 minutes under their belt, as did Paul Jones and that will stand them in good stead. We now go to St Neots on Saturday and we will change it up a bit. "Gabriel Zakuani will definitely play 90 minutes, he missed the game with a slight knee injury. "I am happy with the progress that is being made, we are only two friendlies into the campaign, but the league campaign is just around the corner now."
