Townson seals Macc move

Rochdale striker Kevin Townson has completed his switch to Macclesfield Town.

Rochdale striker Kevin Townson has completed his permanent switch to League Two rivals Macclesfield Town.

The 22-year-old (pictured) spent the final part of last season on loan with The Silkmen after joining the Moss Rose club on transfer deadline day back in March.

The former Spotland trainee, who earned England Under-18 honours, failed to make an impact under Dale boss Steve Parkin last season.

Macc boss Brian Horton was keen to find another goalscorer following the departure of former captain Matthew Tipton to Mansfield Town on Monday and will be delighted to have Townson in his ranks.

Meanwhile, former Wrexham goalkeeper Ryan Harrison has taken up Rochdale's offer of a pre-season trial.

The former Swansea City custodian had signed a one-year deal with his non-league club Hastings United before opting to try his luck at Spotland this summer.

Harrison played on non-contract terms with The Dragons last season, as the North Wales club were short of goalkeeping cover during the latter stages of the campaign.
