Defender signs six-month contract after leaving Chesterfield

Rochdale have brought Alan Goodall back to Spotland following the defender's departure from Chesterfield. Goodall was released by Chesterfield at the end of last season and has recently been training with Keith Hill's Rochdale. The 28-year-old previously played for Dale between 2004 and 2007, and has now secured a six-month contract with the League One new boys. The centre-half featured in Saturday's friendly draw with Bradford as a replacement for the injured Craig Dawson and he signed his deal after the match. Goodall becomes Dale's third signing of the week after both Anthony Elding and Matty Done agreed moves to the club.
