Shrimps hope to celebrate new stadium plans with a win

Rock-bottom Darlington hope to continue their renewed survival hopes with a result away to stuttering Morecambe on Saturday. The Shrimps have won just once in their last seven outings, suffering four defeats in the process, and head into the meeting on the back of two defeats as Sammy McIlroy's men languish in mid-table. Meanwhile, the Quakers have proved they are not down and out just yet with a recent double win over promotion hopefuls Rotherham lifting them to within eleven points of safety with two games in hand over nearest rivals. McIlroy may welcome back striker Paul Mullin to the starting line-up after he played for the reserves at his former club Accrington in midweek as he recovers from a knee injury. McIlroy has no new injury worries or suspensions, but Ian Craney, Henry McStay and Fraser McLachlan are still long-term absentees. The hosts, who are aiming to bounce back from last weekend's defeat at Accrington, this week named their new £12million stadium development the Globe Arena. The announcement comes after the club secured a five-year sponsorship deal with Globe Construction, the company responsible for building the new venue. Morecambe will move from Christie Park to their new 6,000-capacity ground from next season. Darlington boss Steve Staunton also has no new injury or suspension concerns ahead of the clash. Midfielder Jeff Smith recovered from a dead leg to play 89 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Lincoln on Tuesday and is set to retain his place in the starting line-up. Fellow midfielder Chris Lumsdon has returned to full training following a knee injury but is not yet to ready to first-team action and is unlikely to make the substitute's bench. Defender Mark Bower (ankle) and striker Noel Whelan (hamstring) remain sidelined.
