Notts County have named Jamie Fullarton as their new manager.

Ricardo Moniz lost his job with the Sky Bet League 2 side on December 29 and the club have now chosen former Scotland U21 captain Fullarton as their new boss.

The 41-year-old will make the short move across the River Trent, having been a coach at Nottingham Forest.

Fullarton, who will meet the squad and officially take charge of the first team from Monday, said: "I am delighted and excited by the prospect of managing such a great club as Notts County, laced with history and tradition.

"To manage a club which has in place an infrastructure, strategy and vision off the pitch that provides a genuine opportunity to be successful on the pitch is a fantastic foundation to build upon."

Chairman Ray Trew said: "I don't think I have ever been as impressed by someone at an interview as I was by Jamie.

"I've got to stress that we had an incredibly high standard of applicant for the vacancy. However, when Jamie came in for his interview we all agreed that he stood out as the man that we wanted to take on this exciting challenge."
