Ex-Magpies owner unhappy with previous regime

Former Notts County owner Peter Trembling has voiced his anger at Munto Finance for failing to deliver on their ambitious plans for the League Two outfit. Munto arrived at Meadow Lane in a blaze of glory last June promising to invest at every level of the club in a bid to help the club achieve Championship status within five years. The appointment of ex-England manager Sven Goran Eriksson signalled their intent, but once the initial excitement and hype surrounding the takeover died down holes soon appeared in their plans. Just six months later Munto had effectively pulled out their investment, forcing executive chairman Trembling to complete a buy-out until a long-term buyer could be found. Trembling has remained quiet over Munto's decision-making process, but has now hit out after he sold his majority Magpies shareholding to a consortium led by former Lincoln chairman Ray Trew. Trembling is furious Munto pulled the rug from under his feet at the drop of a hat and he has confirmed he is seeking legal advice in a bid to recoup lost money along with clearing his name.

Angry

"I'm angry. I'm more angry than anybody and it is Munto's fault," he told Sky Sports News. "They left us in a huge hole. "I came in as a representative, as their chairman and on the back of the fact that they were going to put a huge amount of funds into this club, and they didn't. "To the point where I put money in myself and I probably lost a proportion of that money as well, so I'm incredibly angry. "Now that I've left the club in good hands it's time to take recourse against that, against Munto and I will be doing so." Trembling was close friends with Nathan Willett and now insists the Munto Finance director is unreachable. "Nathan's been a friend of mine for 10 years. Now he's disappeared off the face of the earth. I'm very bitter," he continued. "I'm very angry about the whole episode. They left us in a real mess with a real hole. We could have walked away back in November or December.
Safeguard
"The reason I did the management buyout was to find somebody to invest in this football club and to safeguard its future. That's what's happened. "I've not been vocal about what I've thought with Munto and what's happened as a result of that. Now I will be doing so. I want to tell my side of the story. "I've been criticised in various media reports and there's no foundation in that. I'll be taking action against, number one what money is owed to me and the second the way they left me and the club in the mire. I've been honest and straightforward throughout. "When people make you promises you think by being open it's the right thing, but when things don't turn out as they seem then you're left looking foolish with your reputation tarnished. "I've been straight throughout this and I've managed to find a buyer for this club. My reputation is intact and I've been left in a very difficult position, Sven included, by these people who for whatever reason actually didn't come up with the money."
