Notts County owner Ray Trew has announced that he has taken ownership of Nottingham Rugby Club.

County owner sees 'massive potential' of new deal

Notts County owner Ray Trew has announced that he has taken ownership of Nottingham Rugby Club. As a result of the deal, Meadow Lane plc - the company that owns Blenheim 1862 (NCFC) - will now own both clubs. Trew believes that the agreement is a logical step forward as he continues his building process. "With both teams playing at Meadow Lane, it has always made sense for us to work as closely as possible," Trew told Notts County's official website. "I can see the massive potential of the club, especially when coupled with Notts County. "My aim is to embrace fans of both clubs and to encourage support across both sports as we look to build a successful partnership that will be the pride of Nottingham." The rugby union club have played at Meadow Lane for the past four seasons and in February signed a new seven-year contract to stay on as tenants. Nottingham Rugby chairman Alastair Bow added: "I wouldn't have even considered this deal if I didn't think it was in the best interests of Nottingham Rugby."
