Veteran midfielder Gary Jones is looking for a new club after former club Notts County failed to offer him a new contract.

The 38-year-old, who played 42 times and scored three goals for County in League Two last season, was mentioned on the club's released list last month as being in discussions over a new deal.

But the ex-Bradford City skipper has not heard from Notts since his release and is keen to remain in the game.

Jones told the Nottingham Post in June: "I spoke to the manager at the end of the season and he said the club would get in touch with me to make me an offer.

"That was four weeks ago and I've not heard anything since."

Jones began his professional career with Swansea City before the first of two spells with Rochdale.

After three years and over 150 games for Dale he joined Barnsley for £200k and played over 50 times for the club.

Jones returned to Spotland on loan in 2003 before making the move permanent a year later and staying with the club until 2012, when he joined Bradford.

Jones played over 100 times for the Bantams and joined Notts County last summer.
