Dragons hand Morgan first pro deal

WREXHAM boss Denis Smith has handed a professional contract to young trainee Craig Morgan - a year ahead of schedule.

The move follows The Dragons' decision to keep three apprentices at the Racecourse Ground next season, with Dylan Owen and Jimmy McNulty joining Morgan in being retained by the Division Three outfit.

"To be honest, if I'd have had the money a year ago, then I would have looked at turning him [Morgan] pro then," Smith told Wrexham's official website.

"He still has a lot to learn, but he's come on really strong in the last few months and he deserves his chance."

Trainee goalkeeper Chris Parry was the only player released by the Welsh side on Tuesday.
