Spireites on verge of promotion, Hatters lose again

League Two leaders Chesterfield came from behind to win on Saturday, while rock bottom Stockport lost again. Craig Davies and Danny Whitaker scored second-half goals as Chesterfield bounced back from Lewis Chambers' penalty on the stroke of half-time to beat Macclesfield. The runaway leaders are now 12 points ahead of fourth-placed Shrewsbury with four games to play - as well as boasting a far superior goal difference - and could clinch promotion at Oxford next Saturday. First-half goals from Nicky Ajose and Mike Jones helped second-placed Bury boost their own automatic promotion hopes. The victory spoiled the first game in charge of Barnet for caretaker boss Giuliano Grazioli and left the second-from-bottom Bees deep in the relegation mire. Wycombe remain in third after coming from two goals down to salvage a point against Northampton. Shaun Harrad put the visitors ahead with a 20th minute penalty and Guillem Bauza notched a second eight minutes before the interval.

Earn draw

But second-half goals from Scott Donnelly and Leon Johnson saw the Chairboys earn a draw and leave the Cobblers now 16 games without a win and just three points above the drop zone. Fourth-placed Shrewsbury are now just a point off the automatic promotion berths after a 2-0 success over rock-bottom Stockport. Tom Bradshaw hit the opener in the 17th minute before Nicky Wroe made sure of the points with a penalty three minutes later. Torquay remain in fifth despite being held to a goalless stalemate with fellow promotion hopefuls Port Vale, who stay in ninth. Stevenage stay in sixth after a topsy-turvy 2-2 draw with Aldershot at Broadhall Way. Darius Charles hit an early opener for the hosts before Alex Rodman netted a brace either side of the interval to put the Shots ahead. But Luke Foster scored on 72 minutes to earn Boro a share of the spoils and maintain their eight-game unbeaten run.
Late equaliser
Cody McDonald netted a late equaliser to keep Gillingham in the last play-off berth. Phil Jevons notched from the spot for in-form Morecambe but McDonald scored with two minutes remaining to maintain the Gills' 16-match unbeaten run. Accrington Stanley remain in eighth after a goalless stalemate with Oxford United at the Crown Ground. Andy Scott failed to get off to a winning start as Rotherham boss, with the Millers also being held 0-0 by Hereford. Clayton Donaldson scored a late penalty for Crewe to deny Lincoln a welcome win after Paul Green had notched an opener for the Imps. Burton posted a vital victory to move four points above the drop zone after a 2-0 home win over Cheltenham. Greg Pearson netted from the spot after being fouled in the box by Andy Gallinagh, who was sent off for the challenge, before Jacques Maghoma scored the second with 11 minutes to play to make sure of the points.
