Macclesfield have confirmed the appointment of Gary Simpson as the club's manager on a contract until 2012.
Caretaker lands permanent deal until 2012
Macclesfield Town have confirmed the appointment of Gary Simpson as the club's manager on a contract until 2012.
Simpson had been in caretaker charge of the League Two club since the sudden death of Keith Alexander in early March.
Formerly Alexander's assistant, Simpson has taken 18 points from his 10 games at the helm to lead Macclesfield towards safety in the Football League.
He had expressed a wish to stay in the job and has now been rewarded with a two-year contract by Silkmen chairman Mike Rance.
Faith
"I would like to thank the club for showing faith in me and giving me the opportunity to follow in Keith's footsteps," Simpson told the club's
official website.
"I will endeavour to continue the good work that Keith started to help the club progress after what has been a difficult period for everyone."
Rance added: "We've been through a pretty traumatic time over past few weeks, but Gary has been able to keep the squad focused and the results he's achieved speak for themselves.
"We believe Keith and Gary have assembled a promising young squad and it's absolutely appropriate that Gary is given the chance to build on that foundation.
"The club needs stability and I'm looking forward to working with Gary to realise that promise."
