Pilgrims get Strong

Boston United have signed defender Greg Strong on a free transfer from Third Division rivals Hull City.

The former Motherwell player has been a target of manager Steve Evans's side in recent weeks, having spent two months on loan at Bury at the beginning of the season.

Strong signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the York Street outfit on Tuesday and his move ends a two-year association with The Tigers.

With the arrival of Strong, Boston have allowed striker Peter Duffield to join Division Three bottom club Carlisle United on a month's loan.

The 34-year-old will go into player-manager Paul Simpson's squad to face high-flyers Huddersfield Town on Tuesday evening.

The Middlesbrough-born hit-man has scored 162 goals in over 350 appearances in his time in the game.
