Dale delight for Redfearn

New Rochdale midfielder Neil Redfearn expressed his delight at joining the Spotland club from Boston United.

The 38-year-old signed non-contract terms with Steve Parkin's side on Thursday after deciding he had no future at York Street following the sacking of former Neil Thompson.

Redfearn was relieved from his assistant manager's role with The Pilgrims when Steve Evans returned to take control of Boston following an FA-imposed ban for financial irregularities.

The veteran was pleased with his move and revealed his reason for leaving Boston at this stage of the season.

"I'm looking forward to the next few weeks - Rochdale is a club I know very well from my time with Oldham and playing against them when I was at Boston," Redfearn told the club's official website.

"I was left in a no win situation really as soon as Neil Thompson was sacked as (Boston) manager. I'm a very loyal person and Neil brought me to the club.

"When Steve Evans was brought in, he brought his own people with him but that's what happens in football and sadly it left me no alternative really."
