Orient want Savage

Martin Ling has been closely monitoring Bristol Rovers' Dave Savage

Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling has revealed he has been closely monitoring the situation of Bristol Rovers midfielder Dave Savage.

Although the 31-year-old has made 14 starts in the league this season, he is out of contract in the summer, and Orient would be delighted to pick up a player who has won five caps for Republic of Ireland.

"I have shown an interest in Dave, but, as he's injured, it's on the back burner for the moment," Ling told Leyton Orient's official website.

"He's an experienced midfielder who I've kept tabs on and will be doing so again, but, at the moment, nothing's happening".

Savage, currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, is now playing under Pirates boss Ian Atkins for the third time in his career following spells with Oxford and Northampton, and it remains to be seen whether he would welcome a move away from The Memorial Ground.
