Gain snubbed Terriers bid

Peter Gain rejected a deal at Huddersfield Town to join Peterborough United.

Peter Gain rejected a deal at Huddersfield Town to join Peterborough United on a free transfer.

The midfielder has signed a three-year contract at London Road after opting to end over six years' service for Lincoln City.

Towards the end of his time at Sincil Bank, Gain's future was clouded in confusion after Peterborough initially feared they had lost out to Boston United for the 28-year-old.

Lincoln boss Keith Alexander then revealed that Gain had agreed a new deal with The Red Imps, only to renege on the extension after Posh came back with another offer.

But League One side Huddersfield were also interested in the former Tottenham trainee, as Gain mulled over his future.

Gain confirmed the offers from other clubs but is delighted to have joined The Posh after deciding the time was right to quit Lincoln.

"It is a new challenge for me coming to a new club and I am looking forward to pre-season and meeting the lads," Gain told the club's official website.

"I have had a few offers from Boston and Huddersfield but I wanted to come to this club.

"I had a new contract offer from Lincoln but to be honest I was getting a bit stale there. I am 28-years-old now and needed a fresh challenge, somewhere I could further my career."
