Bolton went down to a 2-1 derby defeat to Bury despite fielding a full strength side at Gigg Lane.

The Premiership outfit were behind against their League Two counterparts after just ten minutes when promising Bury youngster Tom Kennedy dispatched a penalty kick after Radhi Jaidi had handled.

Kevin Davies could have found a leveller in the 25th minute when he headed over and then Bury new boy Neil Edwards saved well from Kevin Nolan before thwarting Davies again with an athletic stop.

Bolton made changes at the break and, after Ricardo Vaz Te saw another chance saved by Edwards, starlet Lesley Thompson finally found an equaliser courtesy of an excellent free kick.

However, despite dominating possession for large spells, Bolton were undone on the counter ten minutes from time when Bury trialist Jake Speight headed home a far post cross.
