Lee joins Cobblers

Boston United striker Jason Lee has joined League Two rivals Northampton Town.

Boston United striker Jason Lee has joined League Two rivals Northampton Town on a free transfer.

The well-travelled front man arrives at Sixfields after just over a year at Boston, whom he joined from Falkirk.

Northampton boss Colin Calderwood is confident Lee will add a different dimension to his side's attacking play, adding that a partnership should quickly be formed with former Boston team-mate Andy Kirk.

"Having Jason gives us options and with the other strikers we have already got here I now think we have got all the options up front," Calderwood told the club's official website.

"When we've played Boston he has been a major threat and that was one of the things we discussed. I used to play against him as well and I know how difficult that was.

"He wanted to come here, I was very happy to take him and I think in Jason we have got what we need all round.

"He has signed a contract until the end of the season and if he does well between now and then he will give himself a chance of extending that.

"Jason played with Andy Kirk at Boston and that will help the link-up between those two in the early stages if they are picked as a two.''
