Pilgrims snub Joachim bid
Millwall have had a five-figure bid for striker Julian Joachim turned down by Boston.
Millwall have had a five-figure bid for striker Julian Joachim turned down by Boston.
It is understood that the Championship strugglers tabled an offer of around £50,000 for the former Aston Villa man but The Pilgrims are desperate to keep hold of him.
But the club has vowed to fight tooth-and-nail to keep hold of Joachim, with manager Steve Evans saying he will quit if he is sold.
"If Julian Joachim leaves this football club, I wouldn't be able to carry on," he told the Lincolnshire Echo.
"We sold Andy Kirk to Northampton last season for reasons I understood at the time. But Julian is an integral part of my plans and if he was to go the club will be undermined.
"The board assure me they have no intention of selling him.
"Jocky is fully aware of the situation and has no desire to leave because he's very happy at Boston.
"And I don't want him to go - it's as simple as that."
Meanwhile, United have also been linked with a move for Ipswich striker Dean McDonald.
Reports in the North East suggested that both they and Blackpool were preparing a package aimed at snatching him from under the noses of Hartlepool, where he is currently on loan.
But Boston's director of football Jim Rodwell told skysports.com that there is no truth in the claim.
"When he left Arsenal in 2005 he came here on trial and we offered him a deal but he turned it down," he explained.
"He's a decent player but not one that we're currently interested in."
