Evans captures Cooksey

Boston United have completed the signing of Ernie Cooksey from Rochdale.

The 26-year-old midfielder has been a target for Pilgrims boss Steve Evans since the summer.

Boston beat off competition from two other Football League clubs to land Cooksey.

Cooksey has signed a deal until the end of the season and joins Colin Cryan in moving to York Street on deadline day.

"I am delighted to secure the signature of Ernie Cooksey, given that the boy had two other Football League clubs vying for his services," Evans told the club's official website.

"It ends a long chase by myself to get the boy, but now he has arrived, I am looking for him to give us some real competition across the midfield.

"He is a midfielder who is known for getting a goal and that indeed is something that we have sorely missed."
