Gulls chief hails side

Torquay United boss Paul Buckle was delighted with his side after they claimed a 2-0 win over Shrewsbury in the first-leg of their League Two play-off semi-final. The Gulls were good value for their win, which came courtesy of first-half goals from Chris Zebroski and Eunan O'Kane. And Buckle was delighted with how his side performed. "I am immensely proud, we just wanted to play this game and I thought we were outstanding and could have won by more," he told Sky Sports. "We had four strikers and we passed the ball well, and we would have taken two before kick-off - but it could have been more." Buckle admits a 5-0 win over Shrewsbury earlier in the season gave them the confidence to attack them again. "We have won 5-0 so I said why not try and score as many as you can, but that is always our philosophy, we always try and be positive and get on the front foot and are entertaining," he continued, praising the spirit in his camp. "There is organisation, togetherness and a will to win, and we have got people here who are proper people, we always make sure who comes to the club are good people."

Confident

Buckle is now in confident mood ahead of the second-leg next week. "Our away form has been excellent and we will go there and be positive and try and get through," he said. "We have proved we can handle the big occasion, the tie is not over and we have to try."
