Hibernian have extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Championship to six points, while Dundee United were fortunate to escape with a draw against Queen of the South.
Kris Commons scored the only goal as Hibs beat Dumbarton 1-0 in what is the last game of his emergency loan from Celtic.
Commons volleyed home in the 14th minute, but struggling Dumbarton gave the leaders a tough afternoon.
Dundee United were held to a 3-3 draw at home to Queen of the South, and needed an 89th-minute equaliser from Simon Murray to preserve their unbeaten home record.
Murray had put the hosts in front, but Stephen Dobbie levelled it up with his 18th goal of the season and Joe Thomson put the visitors ahead.
A powerful strike from another loanee, Dom Thomas, made it 3-1 on 65 minutes, but goals from Scott Fraser and then Murray rescued a point for United.
Morton stay in third following a 2-0 win over Raith Rovers, Ross Forbes (27) and Lawrence Shankland (67) scoring the goals.
Fourth-placed Falkirk were held to a 1-1 draw by second-bottom Ayr, with the one team below them, St Mirren, battling for a 1-1 draw at Dunfermline.
