Gathuessi earns Hibs deal

Thierry Gathuessi has put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract with Hibernian.

Thierry Gathuessi has agreed a two-year deal with Hibernian.

The Cameroon-born defender has put pen-to-paper on the contract at Easter Road after impressing manager John Collins on a recent pre-season training camp in Austria.

Gathuessi will now make the move from French second division side FC Sete and Collins is pleased to have secured his man ahead of the new season.

"We were very impressed by Thierry in Austria," Collins told the club's official website.

"He is an accomplished player who we believe will do very well in our league.

"He can play on either the left or right side of defence and has in fact played in central defence at his previous clubs, and so gives us a few more options in that area.

"We are delighted to have him at the club."

The 25-year-old has one Cameroon cap to his name, which he won in 2004 against Bulgaria.
