Hearts v Motherwell preview

Hearts' home clash with Motherwell will go ahead as planned after it passed an inspection.

Cold snap could see Tynecastle clash called off

Hearts' home clash with Motherwell will go ahead as planned after it passed an inspection. The match has been placed in doubt after an icy blast of winter weather saw the games at St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Hamilton and Aberdeen were all called off. The Tynecastle pitch is playable due to undersoil heating and a safety inspection has been passed this afternoon. Hearts are set to be without Craig Thomson as he struggles to recover from a knee problem which forced him to miss last weekend's win over Falkirk. Ian Black returns after a three-match ban for his red card in the chaotic defeat at Hamilton, but Laryea Kingston (hamstring), Calum Elliot (knee), Jason Thomson (hamstring), Jamie MacDonald (ankle) and Andrew Driver (knee) remain sidelined. New Motherwell manager Craig Brown takes charge of his first game following the dismissal of Jim Gannon earlier this week. Brown will have to make do without midfielder Giles Coke and defender Shaun Hutchinson due to injury. Striker Bob McHugh is also a major doubt for the visitors after being hit by a virus.
