Defender seals Parkhead switch
Celtic have completed the signing of Dutch defender Jos Hooiveld from AIK Solna.
Hooiveld has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at Parkhead after passing a medical in Glasgow over the weekend.
Celtic are believed to have agreed a fee of £1.8million with AIK for Hooiveld, who helped the Swedish side win their domestic title last season.
The 26-year-old is Tony Mowbray's second signing of the January transfer window and will help fill the void left by Gary Caldwell's imminent departure, with Middlesbrough hoping to lure the defender to Teesside.
Hooiveld is expected to go straight into the squad for this weekend's home game with Falkirk after the Scottish Cup tie with Morton was once again postponed because of the weather.
Hooiveld was delighted to make the move to the Scottish giants.
"I'm delighted to sign for a club of Celtic's stature," Hooiveld told the club's official website.
"Celtic has a magnificent history and is a club with great tradition and great supporters.
"Having visited the club and spoken to the manager, I feel this is the right place for me and I am very much looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and hopefully playing my part in bringing success to the club and our fans."
Hoops boss Tony Mowbray said: "We are very pleased to welcome Jos to Celtic.
"He is a player who we believe can make an important contribution to the club and someone we look forward to working with."
