Gers boss takes a draw after tough encounter
Rangers manager Walter Smith was satisfied with a point following his side's draw with Dundee United.
The Gers were unable to break through the Terrors' defence at Tannadice even though the home side had a man sent off on 70 minutes.
Mihael Kovacevic saw red for a reckless kick on Kyle Lafferty but United held on for the final 20 minutes without conceding.
Smith admitted that there was not much in the game, with few chances for both teams, and he was content with the result.
"There wasn't much in it, not many clear-cut opportunities for either side," he said.
"We started well, then it was fairly even until half-time.
"In the second half we were bright without creating too many opportunities.
"We had opportunities to win it - a better pass, quicker shot, a little bit more sharpness. From our own point of view it was a hard fought point.
"They've (Dundee United) got good spirit and good determination. They've had a good second half to the season.
"I felt overall we were slightly the better team but it was a hard one."
The result means the Scottish Premier League title will not be won by the Gers at Ibrox on Sunday unless Celtic slip up against Hibernian on Saturday.
Gers defender Rangers David Weir thinks his team deserved the three points against the Terrors, but admitted it was a tough game.
Rewards
"I think we deserved to win the game based on how the game went," he added.
"But you always get a tough game when you come up here. We just want to win the title.
"We're not looking to anyone to do us any favours.
"We've got to keep winning our matches and I'm sure it will come to us at some point."
Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth remarked: "We were different class tonight and it could have gone to anyone.
"They had a few chances which were offside but aside from that they didn't cause us too many problems.
"We're delighted with a point, especially against the side that's top of the league.
"We kept a clean sheet which is massive for us."
