Greek forward plays down Palermo link
Celtic striker Georgios Samaras has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Italian side Palermo.
The 25-year-old Greece international has fallen out of favour at Parkhead since the departure of Tony Mowbray back in March.
But he insists that he is determined to fight for his place in the Hoops starting XI, despite Palermo's sporting director Walter Sabatini this week praising the player's qualities.
Samaras told the
Scottish Sun: "I am not open for talks with other clubs because I am very happy in Glasgow.
"I have heard some talk, but nothing else.
"No one has spoken to me or my agent.
"To be honest with you, I am not looking to leave Celtic. I have a year to go and I am not looking to leave for Palermo or anyone else for that matter.
"I also believe we can achieve great things next season.
"My focus for now is the World Cup and after that I will return ready for pre-season with Celtic."
