Controversial goalkeeper prepares for Serie A move

Fiorentina have agreed a deal to sign Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc subject to a medical. The 30-year-old Poland international is set to make the switch to Italy after five years with the Hoops, where he has made more than 200 appearances for the club after arriving from Legia Warsaw. Boruc had one year remaining on his contract at Parkhead but the Glasgow outfit have opted to sell the shot-stopper rather than risk losing him for free next summer. A statement on Fiorentina's official website said: "FC Fiorentina announces that it has reached agreement with Glasgow Celtic for the acquisition of Artur Boruc. "The negotiations will be completed after the results of the medical." The deal continued a busy Monday in the transfer market for Celtic, as former Cardiff midfielder Joe Ledley finalised his move earlier in the day. However, Jimmy Bullard's proposed loan to the club from Hull City has fallen through. The expected departure of Boruc leaves compatriot Lukasz Zaluska as manager Neil Lennon's first-choice goalkeeper at Celtic.
